Þingvellir, Iceland, a divergent rift valley within the Mid-Atlantic Ridge where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are separating at about 2.5cm per year, as they have for the past 10,000 years. This steady separation, inter alia, has led to the formation of Iceland.
